Do fanaleds work with project cars on ps4

Post by Biker77 »

Hello all,

I was surfing the interweb and came across this site, and became very excited about the fanaleds.

But i have 1 major question wich i can't seem to find on the website or in the forums.

When i buy fanaleds for my fanatec gt3 rs v2 wheel, will they work with project cars on my ps4.

Because all i can find are discussions/questions/etc based on use with a pc

I hope someone can give me an answer.

Hi,

You don't have to buy Fanaleds. It's 100% for free.

Fanaleds only works on the PC. Consoles, like the PS4, do not support 3rd-party apps like Fanaleds to work.

Ok thanks for this info, too bad it doesn't work on my ps4.
I know developers are working on a companion app for the ps4, so you can use something like vdash on youre phone with the oncoming patch 7.0 for ps4, so i thought maybey this will also work with fanaleds and the required hardware in the future.

We have absolutely no idea about this. We don't own consoles, so we're impossible to support that. Don't expect an app from us (any time soon) on a console. Sorry.

What if...

Is Fanaleds small enough to be run efficiently on a Raspberry Pi 2 ?

As Project Cars send infos over UDP, the Raspberry Pi 2 could catch it and send it to the Fanaled Conected to it.

Voila, Fanaled HW would be compatible for both PC and Consoles on Project Cars. :)

UDP should be the way to go for all games running on multiple platforms,
no server soft needed, compatible to everyone.

Racing Sim HW and 3rd party apps sales would greatly benefit from this.

Am I wearing pink glasses ?

I can't imagine Project Cars on a console would be able to send that information to a random device (RPI2). Also Fanaleds is a Windows application and would therefore not run on a RPI2, unless that would run Windows (not IoT).

Sounds good, but I don't see it happen on a console.

Just to let you know, i regulary contact one of the main developper of 3rd party apps for Project Cars.

And it happend that been Console compatible is how he made the most of is income...

Does it ring any bells ? ;)

Console market is a HUGE one, how many PC version of Project Cars been sold vs Consoles ? :)

I think that any new product made for a car game/sim must take that in account if making cash and survive is the goal.

Like for button boxes, I was suggestng to devs to make them console compatible, they mostly all laugh at me... who's laughing now that ignitiON make top grade compatible products for $99 ? lol

I even made a box myself as no one was selling it because they tought there was no market for it.

API sent everything over UDP from Console, let's take advantage of it and show game devs it's the way to work, so more games compatible to consoles, more stuff sold for 3rd paty devs...

You can switch from PC to console and still use same top quality hardware you bought.
Priceless...

There is definitly a market for a box that would make PC stuff compatible, some kind of interpreter.

Get Console udp data, analyse, ship it to PC only HW like Fanaled.

Imagine if you could sell your PC stuff to all the console maket tomorow ?

Yea, you could end up having back order issues... lol ;)
